Megan Faunce is a co-founder of JRS. Megan received her Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education from Temple University. After graduation Megan moved to London and traveled through Europe and Eastern Africa. Megan finally used her degree in education to teach History to “at-risk” youth and then to teach English as a Second Language in Bangkok, Thailand. She eventually moved to New Orleans and began working for the Juvenile Justice Project of Louisiana.
While at JJPL Megan monitored the conditions of Louisiana’s juvenile prisons under the settlement agreement between the United States Department of Justice, the Juvenile Justice Project of Louisiana, private plaintiffs and the State of Louisiana. She also zealously advocated for the youth inside those prisons.
During Hurricane Katrina, Megan, along with other advocates and lawyers, worked with Orleans Parish Juvenile Court and the Office of Youth Development in locating the families of youth who were trapped in the flood waters at Orleans Parish Prison and subsequently evacuated to OYD facilities throughout the state. Megan also assisted with the reunification of these youth and their families.
Megan is the proud mother of an adorable 2 year old boxer-pit bull mix named Babaganoush.
